Inspired Solutions for a Changing Economy

Welcome.  We are pleased to introduce a new initiative to adapt a successful solution for talented residents seeking non-scheduled or contingent work in the San Francisco Bay Area, beginning in San Mateo County and the unincorporated community of North Fair Oaks.

What's Different?

With initial funding from Sobrato Philanthropies, the Silicon Valley Community Mobility Group (SVCMG) is applying lessons from Long Beach, Portland, Oregon and the United Kingdom to address a growing element of the modern labor market, work that is decoupled from a regularly-scheduled job.  SVCMG is led by Bay Area Workforce Consultants Luther Jackson and Nick Schultz, UK social entrepreneur Wingham Rowan, and is advised by Kris Stadelman, retired Workforce Executive.

First Steps

In the development phase, SVCMG and partners will:

  • Expand opportunities for San Mateo County residents who prefer contingent roles because of a need to balance work with personal responsibilities.

  • Provide new talent pools for employers seeking local talent on a contingent basis.

  • Offer an administrative platform to connect and manage available talent with hours of work through employer of record intermediaries.

  • Join an emerging collaborative in North Fair Oaks to develop new channels of accessible talent for contingent and regularly scheduled roles with regional employers.
